Don’t Kill, Let’s Talk
Poets’ appeal for dialogue
With the conviction that every act of violence must be condemned, but also the absurd continuous massacre of civilians in GAZA only fuels incurable injustice and hatred and is configured as a ferocious and inhumane act, we firmly ask for the initiation of a credible and authentic DIALOGUE that leads to the concrete settlement of disagreements with the PERMANENT CEASEFIRE, THE RELEASE OF HOSTAGES ON BOTH SIDES, THE END OF APARTHEID. As writers of poetry, we strongly believe in the effectiveness of the word, the only one capable of profoundly clarifying every friction and arriving at a just recomposition without inhuman outcomes and massacres of innocents. Building a new humanism is possible if we accept the fundamental principles of the dignity and freedom of every people and person for a coexistence based on respect for human rights and every identity, without prevarications: the only fertile ground for ensuring a future of peace and well-being for the new generations. As poets, we defend the freedom to think, dream, and express ourselves, and we use poetry to continue to put out every fire.
We invite everyone to spread this appeal repeatedly on social media, by email, WhatsApp, etc., to more people on December 20th at 4 p.m. to be able to impact large numbers until the final silence of the weapons.
